Bernhardt and Mark Sunderland Interiors!!!!

When you're perusing your decorating magazines this Summer, you'll see THIS new National Ad from Bernhardt.

HOW COOL is that TREMONT chair???? ....something NEW from Bernhardt Interiors.

And that Silver-Leaf-Nightstand from the Salon Collection? Sleek and sophisticated, I'd say!

My Bernhardt clients know how much I LOVE selling Bernhardt; perhaps I could propose something NEW for that room you've had on the "back-burner."

As always, just message me: mark@msunderland.com for prices of either these OR that Bernhardt sofa, end-tables, and coffee-table you might find on your own as you scan through Bernhardt's easy-to-use website.

I'll be happy to send you a small selection of fabrics in YOUR colour-story.

SUMMER is the BEST time to order new furniture for your home (but you knew that, right?).

I look forward to hearing from many of you. Please share your thoughts what new pieces you might need this Summer.

Keep Calm and Think Bernhardt!

French, but not 'Frenchy'......

Here's a photo of a coffee-table I JUST PURCHASED from Judy Rohrer, my sales representative at Baker, Knapp & Tubbs, ADAC.

It's from FRENCH HERITAGE, a fabulous furniture-maker that STILL makes fine furniture in FRANCE!  I sold French Heritage product for over 14 years at Beverly Hall Furniture Galleries; the woods, metals, and the way they FINISH their product is A+ all the way!!!

When I was at ADAC last month, spec'ing BAKER furniture for a Design-Client, I spotted THIS baby,......and noticed that it had an original retail price of: $8000.00.  It had been marked-down (as it has recently been edited from their line)  to a price I simply couldn't resist.  I BOUGHT it, and have it in my Home Studio, awaiting the RIGHT CLIENT who needs: a FINE, hand-waxed wood coffee table AT THE PRICE OF ONE OF MUCH-LESS quality from one of those catalogues you get in the mail.

MY price for this coffee-table is: $1799.00!!!!!!  Remember: original price $8K (I even left the original price on the piece).  SIZE:  47"wide x 32.5"depth x 16.5" height.

Here are some additional photos I personally shot, showing the SLIDE-FEATURE which opens and closes over handy-storage areas for your many magazines and books.  Drawers on one side that slide-through from either-side (great for games, cards, junque,......) and a nice storage shelf (perhaps for art books, tissues, etc.).

Size: 47"w x 32.5"d x 16.5"h; shown decorated in my Home Studio.
GREAT side "pockets" for your periodicals!

Another shot of this WONDERFUL coffee table; my price: $1799.00!!!

This is a GREAT opportunity for someone who just-might need a new coffee table for their Family Room or TV Room.  It would look great in-front of a fabric OR leather sofa........

As I mentioned, it's here, safe and sound, at my Home Studio in Atlanta.  I'll be happy to get an affordable quote to SHIP it ANYWHERE in the USA; just let me know!

As always, Keep Calm And Carry On!

Tommy Bahama: "If you knew Tommy like I knew Tommy........"

I remember when the name Tommy Bahama broke-into the menswear business back in the 80s.  Even though I was buying for land-locked Central Pennsylvania, every time Joel Cohen (owner of Young Men's Shop, Altoona and State College, PA) and I would put these "island, beachy" shirts and pants in the store, they FLEW off the shelves.

Now, 20+ years later, this name, Tommy Bahama, is back in my life,......in Collections of FURNITURE from Lexington Home Brands, which I've had an account for the last 2+ years.  According to my sales rep, Lexington's Tommy Bahama KINGSTOWN COLLECTION has been "trending up" lately,....which, in this Furniture Economy, is saying something.

Here's the VIDEO of the KINGSTOWN COLLECTION by Lexington.  When I "spec" this Collection, I personally try to mix some LIGHTER pieces into a room of furniture, but some clients just like to get everything to "match," which is AOK for my MATCHERS (Mel and David and Jane and Tom,...well, at least MEL and JANE know what I mean........); it's all-about what YOU, the customer, WANTS (with my expert help, of course!!!!!).

Nice, eh?

AND,......,,as you browse through the MANY other Collections of TOMMY BAHAMA, check out my FAVOURITE OUTDOOR COLLECTION of Lexington's: Tommy Bahama Island Estate Veranda, .......which has the look of leather-wrapped bamboo, but is made in WEATHER-RESISTANT aluminum in a great umber colouration,......FABULOUS for your OUTSIDE areas that just-might need a NEW LOOK for this Spring/Summer.

FEBRUARY is the BEST TIME to ORDER new patio furniture (so you're not scrambling-around in May, buying whatever-the-heck is available "off-the-floor" (you should know by now how rarely THAT works........).....

So, there you have it!  Quality-Furniture at AFFORDABLE prices,.....just measure your space and I'll be happy to do a floor-plan, no matter if you live down-the-Interstate from me, or,...as Pennsylvania Peeps know, Mark Sunderland Interiors has a pre-approved RECEIVING WAREHOUSE in Central Pennsylvania!!!!!  So let me know what you'd like me to price-out,...and, of course, I can start the process with some no-charge memo-samples in the colours of YOUR choice.

I look forward to hearing from you, as always.....

THINK SPRING!!!!!!   It'll be here before you know it!

IT'S ALL IN THE DETAILS!!!!!!!!

My Mission chairs, waiting for their new look.

...thought I'd blog about my upholstery-projects,...and give a SHOUT-OUT to my upholsterer for over 12 years, Aaron Richmond, owner of: M. SOUTHERN DESIGN CONCEPTS, Norcross, Georgia.

I met Aaron in 2000, and, after seeing his workmanship on a pair of chairs he did for one of my antique-dealer-friends,......hired him then-and-there for my first upholstery project,....and have used him EXCLUSIVELY since then.

Last week, I stopped-by and gave Aaron about 8-12 projects I need for my Designer Showhouse at: Christmas at Callanwolde.  He's such a Good-Listener,.....and I appreciate him telling me what I CAN and CANNOT do (sometimes we designers have the IDEAS,.....but sometimes our ideas do not interpret into REALITY.....).

My black/tan hounds tooth fabric and black leather for contrast-welt on a pair of ottomans.

Wait'll you see how Aaron at M. Southern Design uses my
antique Caucasion rug on my Mission chairs....

Wait'll you see what I do with these ottoman frames!

Aaron's input is ALWAYS appreciated by this designer.

Here are some photos to share with y'all........your upholstery project is only as good as the skilled-WORKERS involved......

My good friend, Aaron Richmond, owner of M.Southern, my ONLY upholsterer for over 12 years.

Proud upholsterer!!!!

Skilled worker at: M. Southern Design.

Skilled worker at: M. Southern Design.

Another careful upholsterer.......

Why I've used M.Southern for over 12 years: attention-to-DETAIL!!!

Kudos, Aaron!   Kudos, M. SOUTHERN DESIGN CONCEPTS!!!

Cheers,
Mark.

Vitality and The Next Cool Thing

F. Scott Fitzgerald said that vitality shows in the ability to persist as well as the ability to start over. If this is true (and I believe it is), you may be reading the words of the most energetic man in interior design. As most of you know, throughout the strained economic times of the past few years and my own strained emotional times of the past few months, I have persisted in creating beautiful interiors for my clients, saving them time and money in the process. And, out of the dying embers of the late, great Beverly Hall Furniture Galleries, I have fanned the flames of the now vital Mark Sunderland Interiors. This could not have happened, of course, without the enthusiastic support and encouragement of my exceptional clients, business associates, family and friends. In other words, you.

Especially as we enter this season of gratitude and giving, I have been thinking about what I can do to show you my thanks and share my vision for the very bright future ahead for us all. And I’m so excited to tell you about it – and invite you to join me for The Next Cool Thing, January 14 – 16, 2011.

The Next Cool Thing will be a vibrant exhibition of Atlanta’s interior design creativity – and Mark Sunderland Interiors is slated as one of the event’s top highlighted talents. Taking our cues from the world of television and film, each exhibitor is creating an environment that entertains, delights and above all, shows the sophistication, quality and cleverness of Atlanta’s best. Most exhibitors will present a small taste of what they can do in a 10 foot by 10 foot space. I’m thinking quite a bit bigger than that, bringing together my top manufacturers, suppliers and artisans in a spectacular 10,000 square foot display of Americana, inspired by American Pickers, television darling of the interior design world.

Throughout the weekend, you’ll see a variety of interior displays – including, of course, my own creation earmarked by signature wit, intelligence and charm. During the day, the event will be a family-friendly festival, featuring local fare, art and live performances. In the evening, it will transform into a star-studded, elegant, red-carpet affair to rival the gala balls of the 1920s. Every attendee will be treated as a celebrity, although we’ll be sipping champagne and martinis with actual celebrities of the film and television world – stay tuned for more info on that.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be highlighting some of the remarkable people and items that I can’t wait for you to see in person. Meanwhile, I want to hear from you! Tell me what you hope to see at this amazing event – and let me know if you want in on the festivities. I’ll be sure to get you access to what promises to be an event that people will be talking about for a long time to come.

I expect that it will be a display of vitality that would make F. Scott quite proud.
